HALE COUNTY MAN SENTENCED TO MORE THAN EIGHT YEARSIN FEDERAL PRISON IN CHILD PORNOGRAPHY CASE United States Attorney Richard B. Roper announced that Frank Garcia, Jr., of Hale Center, Texas, was sentenced yesterday by the Honorable Sam R. Cummings, United States District Judge, to 97 months imprisonment. In addition, Judge Cummings imposed a 20-year term of supervised release to follow his term of imprisonment. Garcia, age 27, pled guilty in March 2006 to one count of possession of child pornography. He was ordered to surrender to the Bureau of Prisons on July 20, 2006. Garcia admitted using his home computer to collect and store thousands of images of child pornography and was charged with this crime in a federal indictment returned by a grand jury in November 2005. U.S. Attorney Roper praised the investigative efforts of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Hale County Sheriff’s Department and the Hale County Constable. The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Steve Sucsy of the Lubbock, Texas, United States Attorney’s Office.
