BANK ROBBERS SENTENCED TO LENGTHY PRISON SENTENCES
One Serial Bank Robber Committed a Total of 20 Bank Robberies

DALLAS - A Dallas man, convicted in October 2000 of committing 12 bank robberies in the Dallas area and who was on supervised release after serving a 63-month federal prison sentence for committing those robberies, was sentenced this week to a total of 174 months (more than 14 years) in prison for robbing, or attempting to rob, an additional eight banks in Dallas from July 2006 to January 2007, and for violating his supervised release, announced U.S. Attorney Richard B. Roper. In addition, Terrence Maurice Smith was ordered to pay $36,895 restitution. Smith 33, admitted committing the seven bank robberies listed below as well as the one attempted bank robbery:

November 3, 2006	Chase Bank 6310 E. Mockingbird, Dallas, Texas
December 20, 2006	Wells Fargo Bank (attempted) 6333 E. Mockingbird, Dallas, Texas
January 10, 2007	Wells Fargo Bank 5928 W. Northwest Highway, Dallas, Texas

In an unrelated case, Rowlett, Texas, resident, Parnell Broome, Jr. was sentenced to 169 months (approximately 14 years) in federal prison for robbing a bank in Garland, Texas, in June 2006. Broome, 41, pled guilty to robbing the Woodforest National Bank located at 5302 North Garland Avenue in Garland on June 22, 2006. He was arrested by Garland Police Officers in a nearby parking lot shortly after the robbery.

U.S. Attorney praised the investigative efforts of the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Dallas and Garland Police Departments. The cases were prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Suzanna Etessam and Rick Calvert.
