BANK ROBBER SENTENCED TO 15 YEARS IN FEDERAL PRISON
Defendant was on Federal Supervised Release for Another Bank Robbery when he Robbed Bank in Grand Prairie, Texas

DALLAS —  Collin McCoy Garner was sentenced to 15 years in prison by U.S. District Judge Ed Kinkeade following his guilty plea in February to one count of bank robbery, announced U.S. Attorney Richard B. Roper of the Northern District of Texas.  Garner, 37, of Wylie, Texas, has been in custody since his arrest in December 2007, just days after the bank robbery.

Garner admitted that on December 10, 2007, he robbed the Chase Bank at 4146 South Carrier Parkway in Grand Prairie, Texas.  He approached a teller in the bank and demanded money, instructing the teller not to give him any dye packs or bait money.  Garner also threatened to stab and kill the teller if the teller didn’t comply with his demands.  Garner fled the bank and drove away at a high rate of speed.

A Crime Stoppers tip led investigators to Garner, who was on federal supervised release for a bank robbery he had committed in 2000.  Garner was sentenced in December 2000 to 52 months in prison and a three-year term of supervised release following that bank robbery conviction.
