LUBBOCK, TEXAS, MAN SENTENCED TO 20 YEARS IN PRISON ON CHILD PORNOGRAPHY CONVICTION

LUBBOCK, Texas. - Kenneth Douglas Baker, Jr., was sentenced on Friday in federal court in Lubbock to 240 months (20 years) in prison, to be followed by a lifetime of supervised release, announced U.S. Attorney Richard B. Roper of the Northern District of Texas. Baker, 23, pled guilty in October to one count of interstate receipt of child pornography and has been in custody since appearing before a U.S. Magistrate Judge on charges outlined in a criminal complaint filed in August.

In documents filed in Court, Baker admitted that he used the Internet to collect and trade images and videos of child and adult pornography. He admitted that he used a program to regularly delete the child pornography off his computer because he knew it was illegal. He also admitted that over the past few years, he has viewed more than 10,000 images and videos relating to child pornography.

This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative designed to protect children from online exploitation and abuse. Led by the U.S. Attorneys' Offices, Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state and local resources to better locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the Internet, as well as identify and rescue victims. U.S. Attorney Roper commended the investigative efforts of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Lubbock Police Department, the Fairfax County, Virginia, Police Department, and the FBI Washington Joint Cyber Task Force.
