Attorney Rebecca A. Gregory announced that a federal
grand jury returned indictments late yesterday
charging multiple individuals in separate cases
of federal violations in the Eastern District
of Texas.
CHARLES ERIC MORMAN,
21, of Athens, Texas, has been indicted for Possession
of Unlawfully Made and Unregistered incendiary
bombs and for being a Felon in Possession of an
incendiary bomb. The indictment stems from an
incident that occurred on April 1, 2008 in Athens,
Texas. On that date Athens police found Morman
in possession of one or more "Molotov cocktail" type
incendiary bombs.
If convicted, Morman faces up to 10 years in federal prison and a $250,000.00 fine. Assistant U.S. Attorney Jim Noble is prosecuting the case. The case is being investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
QUENTAL MILLER, 29, of Longview, is charged with being a gang member and committing other violent offenses in the Eastern District of Texas.
If convicted, Miller is facing up to 10 years in federal prison and a fine of up to $250,000.00. The case is being investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. Assistant U.S. Attorney Richard Moore is prosecuting the case.
JOHN RICHARD HARMON, JR., 34, of Lakeport, Texas
DEDRIC MANDELL THOMAS, 32, of Longview, Texas
DEVETRICK TRAMEL JOHNSON, 20, of Longview, Texas
ANTHONY WAYNE MATHIS, 29, of Longview, Texas, and
DANGELO LASERRE THOMAS, 27, of Longview, Texas
Are each charged with
Conspiracy to Possess with Intent to Distribute
and Distribution of 50 grams or more of a mixture
or substance containing a detectable amount of
cocaine base, also known as crack cocaine. These
five defendants are gang members involved in a
crack
cocaine drug conspiracy.
They each face up to life in federal prison and a fine of up to $4 million. The Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives are investigating the case. Assistant U.S. Attorney Richard Moore is prosecuting the case.
CHRISTOPHER CASH
CLARK, 27, of Marshall,
Texas, is charged with Possession of an Unregistered
Firearm, a silencer, and Possession of a Firearm,
a silencer, without a serial number.
On November 11, 2006,
City of Marshall Police Officers arrested Clark
at a residence in Marshall for aggravated assault
of a police officer. Pursuant to a search of the
residence, the police discovered several firearms
including a semi-automatic pistol with a silencer.
Clark faces up to 10 years in federal prison and a fine of up to $10,000.00 if convicted. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives is investigating the case. Assistant U.S. Attorney Allen Hurst is prosecuting the case.
JUSTIN RAY MULLINS, 25, of Dallas, is charged with possession of marijuana.
Mullins was found in possession of marijuana while on the Red River Army Depot in Bowie County, Texas.
If convicted, he is facing up to one year in federal prison and a fine of up to $100,000.00. Red River Army Depot is investigating this case and Assistant U.S. Attorney Denise O. Simpson is prosecuting the case.
It is important to note that an indictment should not be considered as evidence of guilt and that all persons charged with a crime are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
