Longview Man Sentenced for Crack Cocaine Distribution

TYLER, TX—United States Attorney Rebecca A. Gregory announced today that a 29-year-old Longview man has been sentenced to federal prison for drug violations in the Eastern District of Texas.

DERIC ANTWAN JACKSON pleaded guilty on May 27, 2008, to possession with intent to distribute and distribution of crack cocaine and was sentenced today to 100 months in federal prison by United States District Judge Michael H. Schneider.

According to information presented in court, an investigation began in December 2006 into the distribution of crack cocaine in East Texas by Jackson and two co-defendants, all of Longview.  An indictment was returned by a federal grand jury on November 6, 2007 charging the three men with federal drug violations.

This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the Longview Police Department, and the Gregg County Sheriff's Office. The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Richard L. Moore.
