Two Sentenced for Federal Drug Violations in East Texas

TYLER, TX—United States Attorney Rebecca Gregory announced today that two Texas men have been sentenced to federal prison for drug-related crimes in the Eastern District of Texas. The sentencing hearings were held before United States District Judge Michael H. Schneider.

CURTIS O'NEIL FORD, 31, of Arlington, pleaded guilty on June 24, 2008 to being involved in a conspiracy to possess with the intent to distribute and distribution of methamphetamine and was sentenced today to 120 months in federal prison.

Co-defendant, JOSEPH DAVID HEALAN, 29, of Longview, pleaded guilty on July 1, 2008 to being involved in a conspiracy to possess with the intent to distribute and distribution of methamphetamine and was sentenced on December 3, 2008 to 87 months in federal prison.

According to information presented in court, an investigation began in July 2007 into the distribution of methamphetamine in East Texas by Ford and Healan. A federal indictment was returned on March 4, 2008, charging the two men with federal drug charges.

This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and the Gregg County CODE Unit and was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Richard L. Moore.
