FEDERAL INMATES GUILTY OF POSSESSING DRUGS IN PRISON

TEXARKANA, TX - United States Attorney John L. Ratcliffe announced today that two federal prisoners have pleaded guilty to separate violations involving illegal drugs in the Eastern District of Texas.

MARCUS DESHAWN HUNTER, 26, an inmate in the Texarkana Federal Correctional Institute, pleaded guilty to possession of contraband in prison today before United States Magistrate Judge Caroline Craven.

According to information presented in court, Hunter received a bag of potato chips from a visitor in which marijuana filled balloons had been hidden. Hunter proceeded to eat the chips and swallow the balloons, which were recovered by FCI officials.

Hunter faces up to 5 years in federal prison and a fine of up to $250,000.00 at sentencing. A sentencing date has not been set.

This case is being investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Denise O. Simpson.

SENEKA WILLIAMS, 30, an inmate in the Texarkana Federal Correctional Institute, pleaded guilty to possession of contraband in prison today before United States Magistrate Judge Caroline Craven.

According to information presented in court, Williams was observed by FCI officials with a dental floss container he attempted to conceal from officials. When the container was confiscated, marijuana was found inside.

Williams faces up to 5 years in federal prison and a fine of up to $250,000.00 at sentencing. A sentencing date has not been set.
