Federal Grand Jury Returns Indictments in the Eastern District of Texas

PLANO, TX—U.S. Attorney John M. Bales announced that a federal grand jury returned indictments late yesterday charging multiple individuals in separate cases of federal violations in the Eastern District of Texas.

PRISCILANO LAZARO-ANGEL, 40, of Mexico, has been indicted for illegal re-entry of a deported alien. According to the indictment, on Apr. 12, 2009, the defendant was found unlawfully in the United States after having been previously deported on or about Nov. 3, 2004. If convicted, Lazaro-Angel faces up to two years in federal prison.

This case is being investigated by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Miriam Rea.

LARRY LIONEL TEASLEY, 45, of Wylie, Texas, has been charged with two counts of possession of child pornography. If convicted, Teasley faces up to 10 years in federal prison.

This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice. Led by United States Attorneys’ Offices and the Criminal Division's Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section (CEOS), Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state and local resources to better locate, apprehend and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the Internet, as well as to identify and rescue victims. The case is being investigated by the U.S. Secret Service, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Longview Police Department, the Plano Police Department and the Collin County Sheriff’s Office. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Mandy Griffith.

BENJAMIN RAMIREZ-RODRIGUEZ, a.k.a. Pedro Armendarez, a.k.a. Efren Lopez-Bunullo, a.k.a. Rolando Tamayo-Rodriguez, 44, of Mexico, has been indicted for illegal reentry of a deported alien. According to the indictment, on July 12, 2008, the defendant was found to be unlawfully in the United States after having been previously deported. If convicted, he faces up 20 years in federal prison.

This case is being investigated by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Kevin D. Collins.

JOSE LUIS BATRES-VASQUEZ, a.k.a. Jose Vasquez Batres, a.k.a. Salvador Pulido-Gomez, a.k.a. Jose Batres, a.k.a Jose Luis Batriz, 44, of Mexico, has been indicted for illegal reentry of a deported alien. According to the indictment, on Feb. 28, 2009, the defendant was found to be illegally in the United States after having been previously deported. If convicted, he faces up to 20 years in federal prison.

This case is being investigated by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Kevin D. Collins.
