Two Guilty of Gun Crimes in East Texas Meth Conspiracy

TYLER, TX—U.S. Attorney John M. Bales announced today that a two Texas men have pleaded guilty to federal gun violations in connection with a drug trafficking conspiracy in the Eastern District of Texas.

BRANDON DYESS GREER, 31, of Harleton, Texas, pleaded guilty to possession of an unregistered firearm and CHARLES DAVID CHRISTINE, 26, of Longview, pleaded guilty to using and carrying a firearm during a drug trafficking crime today before U.S. Magistrate Judge Judith K. Guthrie.

According to information presented in court, Greer and Christine were involved in a drug distribution ring responsible for distributing methamphetamine to other individuals in the Tyler and Longview areas from February 2004 to February 2009. A 17-count indictment was returned by a federal grand jury on Feb. 4, 2009, charging 19 individuals, including Greer and Christine, with federal crimes.

Greer faces up to 10 years in federal prison and Christine faces up to five years in federal prison at sentencing. Sentencing dates have not been set.

This case is being investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the East Texas HIDTA Violent Crimes Task Force, the Gregg County CODE Unit, the Gregg County Sheriff's Office, the Longview Police Department, the Gregg County District Attorney's Office, and the Kilgore Police Department and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Richard L. Moore.
