Gregg County Felon Guilty of Federal Gun Crimes

TYLER, TX—U.S. Attorney John M. Bales announced today that a 27-year-old Longview, Texas man has pleaded guilty to federal firearms violations in the Eastern District of Texas. 

GOLDIED PARKER pleaded guilty to being a felon in possession of a firearm today before U.S. Magistrate Judge John D. Love.

According to information presented in court, during the course of a federal undercover investigation, Parker was found to be in possession of a firearm.  It was also discovered during the investigation that Parker was a convicted felon, having been previously found guilty of evading detention in Gregg County in 2005.  As a convicted felon, Parker is prohibited by federal law from owning or possessing firearms or ammunition.  Parker was indicted by a federal grand jury on Sep. 9, 2008, and charged with federal firearms violations.

Parker faces up to 10 years in federal prison at sentencing.  A sentencing date has not been set.

This case is being investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the East Texas HIDTA Violent Crimes Task Force, the Gregg County C.O.D.E. Unit, the Gregg County Sheriff's Office, the Longview Police Department, and the Gregg County District Attorney's Office.  This case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Richard L. Moore.
