2006 Director's Community Leadership Award

The Dallas FBI is pleased to announce the recipient of the 2006 Director's Community Leadership Award, Clarice Tinsley.

The FBI Director's Community Leadership Award is given annually to recognize the achievements of individuals or organizations within the areas of drug, terrorism, crime, gang and violence education and prevention. These individuals or organizations have made an impressive impact on the community, demonstrating strong involvement and dedication to the community and developing programs based on awareness and prevention.

Ms. Tinsley has served as news anchor for local Dallas Fox affiliate KDFW Fox4, for more than 27 years. In the course of her news anchor duties, Ms. Tinsley consistently motivates and inspires her audience to "give back" to the community through community service and personal involvement. Through her innovative series entitled "Clarice's Hometown Heroes", Ms. Tinsley promotes the actions of people, businesses, and organizations involved in volunteer work within the community. "Clarice's Hometown Heroes" serves to encourage and motivate her viewers.

Ms. Tinsley also serves on Advisory Boards for several local community organizations. Additionally, Ms. Tinsley records books on tape for Reading & Radio Resource, a non-profit organization whose mission is to provide audio books to area residents who are blind or visually impaired.

Ms. Tinsley is an avid supporter of the FBI and its mission. Ms. Tinsley was selected to attend the first Dallas Citizen's Academy, which was scheduled to commence September 11, 2001. She proudly includes the following in her official bio: "In 2001 I was accepted as a member of the Dallas FBI Citizen's Academy Class. We were scheduled to start our first session on September 11, 2001. Because of the terrorist attacks, our class started in March 2003. I reported twelve stories on the inner workings of the Dallas FBI Office." Ms. Tinsley has since aired numerous positive stories concerning the FBI's Training Academy at Quantico, and will again be visiting in 2007 to film additional stories highlighting the accomplishments of the FBI. Ms. Tinsley continues to be an excellent ambassador for the FBI in the Dallas community.
