BANK ROBBERY AT GUARANTY BANK Robert E. Casey Jr., Special Agent In Charge, Dallas, FBI, is seeking the public’s assistance for information concerning the bank robbery which occurred at the Guaranty Bank, 1625 West Airport Freeway, Irving, Texas on January 8, 2008. Preliminary investigation indicates five (5) men entered the bank at approximately 12:35 PM. The robbers are described as a male, black, each wearing masks, all dressed in black clothing. The robbers were armed. During the robbery one robber vaulted the teller counter. Due to the physical descriptions and the method of robbery, investigators believe this robbery was conducted by a group previously dubbed the “Scarecrow Bandits.” The “Scarecrow Bandits” previously had worked in teams of two to three, and “takeover” a bank during a robbery attempt. These takeovers have included vaulting the teller counter and assaulting bank employees. These robbers have been armed with handguns and should be considered ARMED AND DANGEROUS. Since July 2, 2007 the “Scarecrow Bandits” are believed to be involved in up to 14 bank robberies in the Dallas metropolitan area. On November 30, 2007 SAC Robert E. Casey Jr announced that Bank of America, Comerica Bank, the North Texas Crime Commission and the FBI were offering rewards totaling up to $25,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the “Scarecrow Bandits”. The reward is still being offered. The FBI and Irving Police Department are jointly investigating this robbery. Anyone recognizing these robbers or having information about their current whereabouts should call the Dallas FBI Office at 972-559-5000 or their local police agency. These persons should not be approached by citizens who may recognize them or know their whereabouts. Photographs from bank surveillance cameras will be posted on bandittracker.com. as soon as possible. |
